She tells her daughter to follow the basket among the reeds. The mother Yochabel (Martha Scott) puts her child in a basket and floats it on the river. The Pharaoh fears a prophecy and proclaims that all Hebrew new-borns must die. The Egyptians caused the Hebrews to work as slaves.
